![]() Without this, imagine what would happen if a hot wire got loose inside the chassis, and leaned up against the metal wall (which is attached to your metal faceplate, and metal pots). Tighten it VERY firmly to the chassis, and consider using permanent locktite to ensure it never comes loose. Then, without damaging that solder joint, use two keps or nyloc nuts. Perhaps solder the AC ground to that terminal now, before tightening to the chassis (takes less heat this way). ![]() Slip the screw through the chassis, put a ring terminal over that. Drill a new hole in the metal chassis, to accommodate a 8-32 panhead machine screw, long enough to double-nut on the other side. ![]() This must be FIRMLY attached directly to the chassis, right at the point of entry (just after the AC cord strain relief). The third wire on a modern plug is a dedicated ground. I place it with my pedal board to make quick changes. Set low for an 'all around' reverb, it's my 'always on' reverb then when I need heavy duty surf drip, I can crank the Drive control. I think I ended up giving him $100 or more. Well, he went off and did a bunch of research, and designed a unique circuit around my existing tank. I would fit the spring tray & electronics, mount the jacks etc., into the enclosure.īased on what he asks for other circuits, I thought the simple reverb tank circuit might cost me $30 or so (the "friend" rate since we're close friends). whatever circuit was needed to make it work. I had an old spring tray, and a suitable enclosure, so I asked my electronics tech friend (same fellow who made my guitar amp) if he could "throw something together" i.e. I was getting more into surf music, and needed a good heavy "surf drip" for a lot of tunes. I found out there's more to it than I thought there was. ![]() You need some kind of enclosure for everything but you'll find lots of DIY examples online. If I didn't have a friend to make a circuit for me, I'd have gotten a Surfy Bear. Otherwise, for anyone with a spring tray they want to use, I'd say get the Surfy Bear kit. ![]()
